The Sacred 7 A path to finding the wholeness of selfidentity ANDREW WAYNE THOMAS ECKER 9781090133649 Books Reviews

  • In a short and beautifully written book, Andrew Ecker presents a compelling and valuable guide for creating who you want to be. He offers practical ways to answer these questions Who am I now, and why? How did I get to be me? How much is it based on what everyone around me tells me to be? Now that I can understand who I am based on everyone else’s direction, who do I want to be and how do I become that person? Andrew gives clear and simple exercises for achieving the I AM who I want to be.
His guide moves the reader through a process of self-discovery, giving credit and appreciation for the people and forces that generally shape our self-image in modern industrial society, and then moving beyond, to creating the self that we want to be, by re-inventing and reshaping these influences for our own benefit. This is a truly important book, one that can help anyone who is confused or searching for a sense of self in our complex industrial society. It provides a practical and readily achievable set of thought-exercises for attaining a redefinition of self. It is a guide for moving from adolescence into the adulthood that we want as contrasted to the adulthood that our parents or society want to impose on us. In many Native American societies, when a member reaches maturity, they select a secret name for themselves that reflects their new identity as an adult. Karl Jung also writes in much more complicated terms on this transition, which he calls individuation. Andrew’s is a much more practical and immediate guide on how to achieve psychological completeness and satisfaction for yourself. This should be a text in every middle school or high school, as so many young people struggle with the pressures of parents, their schools, their society, peers and indeed themselves, wondering what their path in life should be. This book helps guide you to an answer.
  • Ecker presents an intriguing and new way for us to approach our psychospiritual growth, development, and healing. His ancestral based practice assists us in diving deep into areas of the Self in need of healing from varying vantage points that coalesce into a dynamic exploration of the whole self, rooted in where we've come from and expanding in relation to Spirit and Nature. Ecker has given us something profound and deeply moving.
  • I was touched by the author's openness and willingness to share things of his past, which I think will enable others to have a deeper understanding of what life is about, and learning involved. I am sure after reading this book, many will look to their ancestors and also the creations of the universe, more than ever before, to find more meaning in their own lives. There is so much good in this book to allow one to reflect on who they are, where they come from, and to move forward, no matter what belief system you have. I also enjoyed the meditative practices that are offered as a help to accept feelings. I think it can be very cathartic for those who will create their own personal "Sacred 7"!
  • The Sacred 7 is a beautifully written book that teaches a beautiful way to turn your trauma into medicine that heals you from within. The words flow like fresh water to your soul!
